Why build a new deck?
A deck is the best-value addition most homes can get: a place to eat outside, host a cookout and unwind after work, at a fraction of the cost of an addition. Decks are also one of the features buyers ask about first, so a well-built one adds to the sale price.
We've built hundreds of decks across New York and Connecticut. We handle design, permits, footings, framing, decking, railings, stairs and lighting, and we build to current code so the inspection goes smoothly.
Keeping a deck in shape
Sweep it regularly so debris doesn't trap moisture. Wash it once a year, working with the grain and keeping the nozzle moving. Wood decks should be stained or sealed every two to three years to stand up to sun and snow. We offer deck washing, staining and sealing as a service.
Soft boards, wobbly railings and rusted hangers are signs a deck needs attention. We repair and replace boards, railings, stairs and structural members, and we'll tell you honestly when a rebuild makes more sense than a repair.
Frequently asked questions
Composite or wood?
Composite costs more up front but needs no staining and won't splinter or rot. Pressure-treated wood is cheaper and looks great if you're willing to maintain it. We build both.
Do I need a permit?
Almost always, for a new deck or a structural rebuild. We handle the permit and inspections.
How long does a deck take to build?
Most decks are built in one to two weeks after the permit is issued.
